Charlotte B. Closet consignment policy

Thank you for considering consigning with Charlotte B. Closet. We have outlined our consignment policy below to provide you with a clear understanding of the process and guidelines for consigning your items.

Please read the following information carefully before scheduling an appointment or dropping off your items.

Appointment and Item Guidelines

1. Appointment and First-Time Consignors

– To ensure a smooth consignment process, we kindly request that you schedule an appointment for your initial visit.

– For first-time consignors, we ask you to bring up to 20 items, including women’s clothing, shoes, jewelry, bags, and accessories.

– All items must have been purchased within the last few years.

– Items MUST be clean, free of stains, damage, and any odors (moth balls, smoke, etc.).

2. Brand Specifics

– We have specific brand preferences for consigned items.

– We generally do not accept brands such as Target, Walmart, Kohl’s, JC Penny, Belk’s, Boscov’s, Old Navy, as well as junior brands like American Eagle, Hollister, Abercrombie, Forever 21, H&M, etc.

Consignment Period and Terms

1. Consignment Split and Payment Options

So there are two options for payments:

(a) 50/50 Split:

Charlotte B. Closet and the Consigner agree to a 50/50 split of the final sale price of each item sold in-store if the Consigner chooses to wait for payment. This means that 50% of the final sale price will be paid to the Consigner, and 50% will be retained by Charlotte B Closet as commission.

(b) Upfront Payment Option:

Alternatively, the Consigner has the option to receive an upfront payment from Charlotte B Closet for the agreed-upon value of the Goods. In this case, the Consigner will receive an amount equivalent to the agreed-upon upfront payment, and Charlotte B Closet will retain 100% of the final sale price when the Goods are sold.

2. Duration and Item Handling

– Once you sign our contract, your items will be displayed for the remainder of the month they are brought in, and for the following two full months.

– Designer (white ticket) items will be kept for an additional 5 months.

3. Unsold Items

– At the end of the consignment period, you have the option to pick up your unsold items or donate them.

– If you choose to pick up unsold items, please notify us at least 48 hours before the end of your consignment period to ensure we have them ready for you.

– We provide itemized tax forms upon request for donated items.

Consignor Options and Services

1. Consignor Options

As a consignor, you have two options for bringing in items:

a) Appointments: We will go through your items together, and any items we cannot accept will be returned to you.

b) Drop and Dash: We will go through your items at a later time, and any unsellable items will be automatically donated without the option to return.

2. Checks and Store Credit

– Checks can be picked up at any time if your account balance reaches $20 or more.
